1974 CESSNA 172 M SKYHAWK II
1974 Cessna 172
About this aircraft
$95,000 · AGE FORCES SALE · This airplane is a dream of mine but it can belong to you. I have outlived my dream. It is 9/10 inside and out. Always hungered. Never been near salty air. Paint stripped, treated, repainted in 2000. It looks like new paint. Fresh annual 9/2/26. 3919 TTAF, 1965 SMOH, compressions 76,79,78,78/80. Seat tracks recently replaced. Fully articulated pilot seat. Oil pan heater. Oil changed every 25 hours or less. Cam Guard added each oil change. Tail beacon ADSB out. I use Stratus and ForeFlight for ADSB in and CO detector. Everything works. Owner/pilot flown since 1993, no rental, no trainer.

Cost to own
Rule-of-thumb estimates — insurance ≈ 1% of price, hangar $7,500/yr, annual inspection $2,500/yr, fuel + oil at your selected hrs/yr. Your actual costs will vary.
As a sole owner
≈ $230 per flight hour at 100 hrs/yr — flying fewer hours raises this (fixed costs spread over fewer hours)
$95,000 to buy (the asking price)
At 100 hrs/yr, renting at $150/hr would be $7,950 cheaper annually — fly more to see ownership savings.
| Ownership | Buy-in | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full ownership (sole) | $95,000 | $1,913/mo | $22,950/yr |
| 1/2 share | $47,500 | $1,456/mo | $17,475/yr |
| 1/3 share | $31,667 | $1,304/mo | $15,650/yr |
| 1/4 share | $23,750 | $1,228/mo | $14,738/yr |
Buy-in is the asking price split evenly across partners — what you'd each pay to acquire the aircraft (the real figure is negotiated). Fixed costs (insurance, hangar, inspection) split equally by number of partners; fuel/oil is per-pilot since each partner flies their own hours.
